10 2025 Lexus UX Hybrid

The Lexus UX stands as the entry-point to Lexus’s luxurious and comprehensive line-up of SUVs. Despite its compact stature, the UX manages to incorporate the same bold design language that can be seen on all Lexus SUVs, including that distinctive and striking front fascia.

For 2025, the UX 300h replaces the older UX 250h trim, the larger number indicating that a new powertrain is in place. More power is the result, with output increasing from 181 to 196 horsepower, in addition to a new lithium-ion battery pack. The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine, and two electric motors – this is the only powertrain available for the UX 300h, with no gas-only option on the cards for 2025.

9 2025 Lexus ES Hybrid

The Lexus ES carries over into 2025 with minimal changes, so our test drive review of the 2024 model applies – and the BuzzScore carries over. Unlike the UX crossover, the 2025 Lexus ES sedan is available as a gas model, although it’s the efficient hybrid that will be the focus here. The cheapest hybrid trim is the 300h, which sports 215 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. The most expensive hybrid trim, the ES 300h Ultra Luxury, packs the same powertrain, but is furnished with a smattering of luxurious amenities, and stylish accessories.

Despite the help of electrification, the hybrid ES is slower to 60 mph than the gas trims, with a time of 8.3 seconds. However, where the ES 300h really impresses is in terms of fuel economy, with the ability to return up to 44 mpg on the highway, and 43 mpg in the city.

8 2024 Lexus TX Hybrid

Arguably the most capable and versatile SUV in the entire Lexus range, there really is very little that this striking three-row doesn’t excel at. The TX is available as a gas-only model, a hybrid model, or indeed a plug-in hybrid too.

With three rows of seating and a cavernous interior, cabin space is never an issue with the TX. Similarly, power is never going to be a problem either, as this SUV kicks out 366 horsepower from the hybrid powertrain, while standard all-wheel drive stops that grunt from ever feeling like too much of a handful. Pricing starts just south of $70,000 for the hybrid trims, although more desirable grades, such as the F Sport Luxury, will creep just above this threshold.

7 2024 Lexus TX Plug-In Hybrid

Just as highly rated as the typical hybrid model is this, the TX 550h+. It’s the only PHEV option available for the TX, and the only powertrain you’d ever need also. Power is ample, as the 550h+ powertrain puts 404 horses at the driver’s disposal. Perhaps a more practical plus point is the estimated 33 miles of electric-only range on offer, which is ideal for urban environments and short daily commutes.

Inside, the TX provides everything one would expect from a premium Lexus product, including a 14.0-inch infotainment screen, plush leather seats, and a whole host of entertainment and safety features. A 12.3-inch digital display beyond the steering wheel will provide all the info required by the driver, and it can be reconfigured to provide customized displays.

6 2024 Lexus LS Hybrid

The Lexus story began in 1989 with the first-generation LS, a luxurious model which still boasts the position of the brand’s flagship sedan today. In line with the current trend of down-sizing, the large V8 engine has been dropped in favor of a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, or, in the case of the LS Hybrid, a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. This V6 works in conjunction with two electric motors to return a respectable 354 hp.

A testament to the impeccable build quality and huge list of luxurious amenities packed within, the 2024 Lexus LS Hybrid kicks off with a starting price of $114,210, which is significantly north of what the gas-only models are available for.

5 2024 Lexus RX Hybrid

While Lexus certainly does know how to screw together a capable sedan, it’s their SUV range that is proving to be the driver of success in recent years, and the stylish RX is one of the best out there. Rather than just offering one hybrid powertrain, Lexus actually provides three in total for the ultra-modern RX.

Kicking off is the RX 350h, which is motivated via a pair of electric motors, and a 2.4-liter inline-four, which churns out a healthy 246 hp. For an extra 120 hp, Lexus offers the RX500h, which pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter unit with electric power. That power is then sent to all four wheels, in the case of the RX 500h. The most efficient RX is the 350h, which boasts EPA-rated figures of 37 mpg in the city, and 34 mpg on a highway run.

4 2024 Lexus RX Plug-In Hybrid

The final hybrid option for the Lexus RX is the RX 450h+, which is the model name attributed to the plug-in model. Underneath the bodywork lies a 2.5-liter inline-four and three electric motors, which translates through to 304 horses – a more than respectable enough figure for this sharp and stylish SUV.

Fuel economy is supposed to be good, and our observed 33.1 mpg on the highway confirms that the Lexus-estimated numbers are accurate in the real world.

A full battery is said to provide around 37 miles of electric-only range, and via a 240-volt connection, it will take around two and a half hours to charge from empty to full. It’s much more expensive than the regular hybrid, but the potent powertrain and electric range earn it a better BuzzScore.

3 2025 Lexus NX Hybrid

The NX is the smaller sibling of the RX, with a wheelbase that’s just over six inches shorter, and a five-seat layout, whereas the RX offers the option of a third-row. A total of four powertrains are available for this smart subcompact luxury-SUV, including two gas-only engines, a traditional hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid too.

Known as the NX 350h, the hybrid NX is available in a few trims, including the base guise, Premium, Premium Plus, and Luxury. A total of 240 horsepower is provided, courtesy of a 2.5-liter inline-four, and two electric motors. Pricing kicks off at $46,300, which is notably cheaper than the PHEV version, although quite pricier in comparison to the base gas-only NX 250, which costs 41,990.

2 2025 Lexus LC Hybrid

Treading the line carefully and gracefully between sports car and luxury tourer is the ultra-stylish 2025 Lexus LC, which is available with a choice of powertrains, and a choice of body styles too, as both a coupe or a convertible. While gearheads will likely flock to the thunderous V8-powered gas trims, the pricier hybrid model really should not be overlooked. Propulsion is provided by a 3.5-liter V6 and twin electric motors, which combine forces to provide a healthy 354 horsepower.

The LC 500h may lack the dynamic nature of a Porsche 911, but the Lexus is so much sleeker, and instead of targeting itself as a driver’s tool for the weekend, it fits the bill as a comfortable and luxurious cruiser. Even though it boasts a respectable wealth of power, the LC 500h can return 33 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in the city, for a combined average of 29 mpg. It earns a similar rating to the NX hybrid above, but by virtue of its gorgeous styling and desirability, we rank it just a little higher.

1 2025 Lexus NX Plug-In Hybrid

Kicking off at $62,415 is the 2025 Lexus NX Plug-In Hybrid, which is powered by the same 304 horsepower powertrain that sits within the PHEV version of the RX. The PHEV NX has been clocked hitting 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds, which is a full two seconds quicker than the hybrid model, and one second quicker than the gas-only NX 350.

Fully charged, the NX 450h+ should be able to provide 37 miles of driving on electric power alone. Unlike entry-level models of the Lexus NX, the NX 450h+ is all-wheel drive, whether in ‘base’ trim, or F-Sport Handling guise. It earns a slightly higher BuzzScore rating for this reason.
