Morgan Is The First Car Company To Get Sennheiser Audio In The US

Sennheiser is one of the most well-known headphone makers in the world, but the brand does not offer in-car audio, at least in the United States. That is about to change, as the first automotive brand to get Sennheiser audio was just announced; and it’s not a brand you would expect. At this year’s Monterey Car Week, Morgan will announce the Plus Four sports car will be the first car in the US to use Sennheiser audio.

The Plus Four is the first new Morgan with four wheels that will be available in the US since 2005. Morgan has sold the Three-Wheeler here in the states because it doesn’t have to pass stricter crash tests for cars. After a five-year homologation process, the Plus Four will be sold in the US, starting at $84,995, powered by a BMW turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

“For Morgan owners, driving is as much about emotion and connection as it is about performance and craftsmanship. Given the tactile, engaging and timeless nature of Morgan sports cars, it is imperative that a high-quality audio system complements the experience rather than competes with it,”

Morgan Needs A Unique Audio System

Similar to Aston Martin with Apple CarPlay Ultra, Morgan is not the brand we expected to be the first with Sennheiser. The UK brand is known for building cars that look old, and use old-school manufacturing processes. This partnership began three years ago, when Morgan started looking for a company that could deliver clear sound that pairs with an analog driving experience.

Sennheiser says it enjoyed the challenge of building a light-weight system that could still produce rich bass. The system in the Plus Four uses actuators under each seat and a small subwoofer in the chassis to pack more power. Special algorithms ensure the system sounds good with the roof up or down, and the audio can be controlled with the Plus Four’s volume knob, which also features pause and track skip functions.

“Sennheiser is synonymous with premium sound, and we’re excited to bring our in-car audio expertise to the US market through our continued partnership with Morgan Motor Company. The Morgan Plus Four is a car that speaks to the senses, and our sound system ensures that hearing is no exception,” said Veronique Larcher, Managing Director at Sennheiser Mobility.

If you don’t have Sennheiser headphones or speakers, you may not understand why this is such a good move for Morgan. Though this is the first time the company has offered in-car audio in the US, Cupra already offers it on several cars in Europe. CarBuzz had a chance to sample a Sennheiser audio system in the Cupra Formentor, and it sounded excellent with phenomenal tuning controls. Sennheiser was also supposed to create a system for the Karma Revero GT, but the partnership fell through.

“Our work with Sennheiser represents everything we strive for in creating unique automotive experiences,” said Matthew Hole. “Going beyond a normal sound system, the company’s work with Morgan is centered around crafting a seamless, evocative atmosphere that supports the unique character of the vehicle. We’re proud to see this partnership reach the US, and excited to share it with drivers who truly appreciate the art and sound of driving.”
