Blacked Out SUV Models We Love In 2025
As car buyers, we’re getting slightly boring. According to the latest research, gray scale colors – like white, gray and black – are the most popular SUV options, making up a huge 80.2% of the market in 2023. And this isn’t helped by car manufacturers’ dwindling color options on their SUVs. A good example of this is the Kia Telluride, which is only available in darker hues. Blacked-out SUV packages are becoming more popular as carmakers make them a staple of the lineup, no doubt helping contribute to the rise in gray tones.

Sometimes, it’s not just blacked-out trims, but special editions that offer stealthy looks and suave street cred. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites that are available to buy in 2025. There were a few released at the Goodwood Festival of Speed recently, so now’s a better time than ever.
We have listed cars with black-out options available – either as a trim, optional package, or as a special edition – ranking them from least to most expensive. All MSRPs listed do not include any fees or rebates; all information has been sourced from the manufacturers and is correct at the time of writing (manufacturers may change pricing and specs at any time).

The Corolla Cross shows that black-out treatment doesn’t have to be reserved for the premium vehicles on this list. At just $30k and returning a 42 mpg figure, this is a great option for anyone who wants to cut running costs down during their commute. The Nightshade trim is available in three colors and features exclusive 18-inch black alloys, a black/red interior and black accents around the exterior. The black roof looks great on this small crossover and even though there are super-fast SUVs further down this list, you get a lot for your money here.

Lexus offers its mid-size crossover in various flavors, including the high-end 500h model with a turbo-four hybrid powertrain making 366 hp. And, for this model only, there’s the Black Line Special Edition that you can have for 2025. It’ll cost you nearly $70k, but for that money you get all the bells and whistles, including F Sport illuminated front door sills, bespoke front seats with bolsters, aluminum pedals and scuff plates, and perforated leather inside. The cabin is finished in Dark Graphite aluminum trim, and the whole package rides on 21-inch five-spoke alloy wheels finished in black. It boasts the Incognito exterior that gives it the stealthy looks, despite that paint not being black. Gray contrast stitching that matches the exterior paint is used on the black leather interior.

We think the Volvo XC60 looks great as a blacked-out SUV. Swedish design and minimalism fit it perfectly, and the 455 hp PHEV powertrain makes it an ultimate sleeper. The Black Edition here adds an element of mystery as the grille being black makes it tricky to see the make and model. Nappa leather comes as standard (in black, naturally), as well as a panoramic roof, interior illumination and blind-spot monitoring. We love Volvo for its focus on safety, so this is a great choice for the family that wants a black SUV.

Big, American and comfy – that’s the way to travel across the States. The Lincoln Aviator is a midsize SUV with a Jet Appearance package that darkens the exterior trim and fits huge 22-inch black wheels to make you look like you mean business. It’s potent 400 hp is delivered through a 10-speed automatic transmission and the quad exhaust tips at the black only add to the aggressive blacked-out look.

If you’ve ever seen 90s rap videos, you’ll know how much they loved blacked-out big German cars. The Audi Q8’s Black Optic package gives you 22″ wheels and black accents around the exterior, and we think it looks great when mixed with Audi’s Mythos Black metallic color to complete the look. Luckily, like many other blacked-out SUVs on this list, you can add the black accents without being forced to pick the all-black color. The gold option looks great mixed with the black single-frame mask.

We love the Genesis GV80, and next year’s new Prestige Black trim makes it an even more tempting option. Genesis calls it an ‘elusive’ color, and we think it works great on this car, especially with the crystal-filled interior. It is the most expensive option out of all the trims, though, so you’ll have to spend a pretty penny to black out this car.
“This is what makes Genesis so exceptional. It delivers a luxury car experience from the style to the features to the performance combined with pricing that’s lower than expected. It’s a value within the segment without having to compromise on features or quality. Genesis is far more than just a fancy Hyundai: It’s a true luxury brand, and the new GV80 is a perfect example of what Genesis does so well.”

Where else can you get 710 horsepower from a supercharged V8 and a seating capacity of 6? The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has a Black package that gives you 20-inch black wheels, gray metallic badges, and black exhaust tips. We think that if we saw an SRT Hellcat with the blacked-out look in our rearview mirrors, we’d move out of the way. The supercharger whine and aggressive front end would be enough reason.

Porsche revealed the Cayenne Black Edition at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, along with the Taycan Black Edition to complete the lineup. We think the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid works best with this look, as you can be mysteriously silent for 50 miles on electric power alone before unleashing the V6 turbo powertrain to launch you to 60 miles per hour just five seconds. What we love about this SUV is the black edition signage around the car, especially the lit-up accent on the door sill.

Out of all the black SUVs on the list, this one is arguably the most interesting as it actually debuts a new feature. Range Rover has added a ‘Sensory floor’ to the latest SV Black, which is marketing speak for feeling your music’s bass through the floor, which is quite cool. We don’t know how well it works yet, but what we do know is just how potent the 626-hp powertrain is. Pair that with Narvik Gloss Black paint accents and exterior, and you’ve got one of the best blacked-out SUV models around. We also got to see a special version of the Range Rover Sport in Urban XRS Widetrack guise at Goodwood recently – and it’s surely one of the most badass, blacked-out SUVs of 2025.

If you’re asking if you can afford a Bentley, you probably can’t. As the most expensive SUV in our lineup, the Bentayga is obviously one of the fastest and most luxurious. We couldn’t find the official price for a new model online, although there is a listing for a Black Edition at $277,405 that’s currently up. This blacked-out SUV was the first time in 105 years that the Bentley logo was adorned with black wings, a big moment for the historic company. We love the official black and orange colorway, but, being a Bentley, you’ll be able to customize it to your specifications if you have deep pockets.
